In November 1605, a man named Guy Fawkes and a few of his followers set out to explode the English Parliament to protest the poor treatment by King James I, a venture now famously known as the Gunpowder Plot; however, their plan failed and could not be carried out. To mark this very day, people usually visit a fireworks display and some burn effigies of Guy Fawkes.
